Thallus: Indistinct.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Perithecioid, subglobose, obpyriform, or broadly ovoid, forming inside the thallus or mycelium of the host, not emerging, 100-150 µm wide, 100-170 µm high, with a black or brown surface. Wall: Not carbonized. Margin: Black or brown, 7-25 µm wide; external filaments absent. Exciple: Not carbonized; brown (brown to pale brown). Periphyses: Present. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Distinctly branched, distinctly anastomosed; cells 1-3-(4) µm wide. Hypothecium: Brown.

Asci: Cylindrical, distinctly stipitate, 48-70 µm long, 10-14 µm wide; tholus not amyloid; ocular chamber present (only in young ascomata); narrow; dehiscence bitunicate (fissitunicate); exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid; ascoplasm dextrinoid (endoascus CR+ orange).

Ascospores: Not uniseriate (more or less bisseriate), c. 8 per ascus, spores 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, 15-18-21-(22) µm long, 4-4.8-5-(6) µm wide, obtuse; septa present; transversally septate, 3-transversally septate; lumina of equal size; wall thin, laterally constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, becoming pigmented, middle brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
