Ecology: Biotroph; phytopathogenic; growing on leaves, hypophyllous (mostly) or amphigenous. Host or Phorophyte Taxonomy: Sophora japonica L.; Sophora, Leguminosae-Papilionoideae.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Cleistothecioid, orbicular, forming independently from the host thallus or mycelium, scattered or gregarious, (.08)-.09-.12-(.14) mm in diam.. Margin: External filaments present (straight to curved); circinate or helicoid (loosely), 1 µm long, 5.1-7.6 µm in diameter, hyaline or pigmented (yellowish to brownish at the base), numerous, 10-20-(25) per mm², growing between the lower and upper hald of the ascocarp, smooth, not ramified, aseptate or septate (rarely 1(-2) septa).

Asci: 4-8 asci per ascocarp, indistinctly stipitate, 48.3-55.9-(63.5) µm long, (33)-38.1-43.2 µm wide; dehiscence unitunicate.

Ascospores: c. 4 to c. 8 per ascus, spores 4-6 per ascus, ellipsoid or ovoid, 17.8-22.9-(25.4) µm long, 10.2-15.2 µm wide; septa absent.
