Taxonomic Literature: Taxonomic notes: + peridium thin, asci and ascospores visible inside the ascocarp, peridium cells 5-7(-20) µm diam.; some appendages oriented to one side of the cleistothecia; conidiophores not observed; appressoria multilobed, abundant, frequently on the both opposite sides of the hyphae. Havrylenko M., Mycotaxon 49: 257-267 (1993).

Biogeography: Continent: Southern America (Argentina, Prov. Río Negro).

Ecology: Phytopathogenic; growing on stems or leaves, mostly epiphyllous or amphigenous. Host or Phorophyte Taxonomy: Acaena pinnatifida Ruiz & Pav.; Acaena, Rosaceae.

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Cleistothecioid, orbicular (somewhat flattened in side view), forming independently from the host thallus or mycelium, gregarious, (.08)-.1-.148 mm in diam.. Margin: External filaments present; mycelioid, straight, 1-5 µm long, 4 µm in diameter, numerous, at least 30 per mm², growing between the lower and upper hald of the ascocarp (sometimes) or on the upper half of the ascocarp, smooth, not ramified, aseptate.

Asci: 9-12 asci per ascocarp, distinctly stipitate, 70-90 µm long, 30-40 µm wide; dehiscence unitunicate.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, spores 5-6 per ascus, subglobose, ellipsoid, or ovoid, (18)-20-28 µm long, 14-18 µm wide; septa absent.

Conidiomata: Present; hyphomycetous.

Conidiophores: Pseudoidium-type. Conidium Formation: Conidiogenous cells single. Conidia: Cylindrical; macroconidial, not branched, 28-36 µm long, 12-16 µm wide; aseptate.
