Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface, soon sessile. Margin: Distinct to prominent; external filaments absent. Exciple: Grey or white. Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells grey, green, brown, or hyaline. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: White.

Asci: Tholus thickened, amyloid, with non-amyloid wide axial body and divergent amyloid flanks towards apex; dehiscence lecanoralean.

Ascospores: 1–2 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid or ellipsoid, 20-45 µm long, 12-25 µm wide, obtuse; septa absent; wall thin or thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, dark brown, middle brown, grey, hyaline, or pale brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial; immersed, formed along the thallus periphery.

Conidiogeneous Cells: Intercalar. Conidia: Bacilliform; aseptate.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected or present, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides, orcinol depsidones, ß-orcinol depsides, ß-orcinol depsidones, benzyl esters, and dibenzofurans [and usnic acids].
