Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; substrate non-calciferous.

Lichen Photobionts: Primary photobiont present; chlorococcal. Primary photobiont taxonomy: Nostoc and Stigonema (A. Beck 22-05-97); Nostocaceae and Stigonemataceae; Nostocales and Stigonematales, Cyanobacteria, Prokaryota. Secondary photobiont present.

Thallus: Indistinct, crustose, or fruticose, not subdivided parts. Upper Surface: Brownish yellow or white; special structures present:; not pseudocyphellate; eciliate; without hairs; not isidate; not sorediate; cephalodiate; lobulate; without granules granules, without thalloconidia thalloconidia. Lower Surface: Attached by the whole lower surface; special structures absent.

Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, forming directly at the tip of the thallus parts, stipitate. Margin: Prominent; external filaments absent. Exciple: Grey, white, or brownish yellow. Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells brown. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: Brown or white.

Asci: Tholus thickened, amyloid, entirely amyloid throughout; dehiscence lecanoralean.

Ascospores: 1–2 to c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid or oblong, 50-120 µm long, 13-55 µm wide, obtuse; septa present; both transversally and longitudinally, 8-9-transversally septate; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, hyaline or pale brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial; immersed, formed along the thallus periphery.

Conidia: Filiform.

Secondary Metabolites: Present, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides, ß-orcinol depsides, and ß-orcinol depsidones.
