Thallus: Crustose, not subdivided parts. Thallus Outline: Persistent. Upper Surface: Grey, white, or grey-yellow; special structures absent. Lower Surface: Attached by the whole lower surface; special structures absent.

Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface, not emerging, becoming adnate to soon sessile. Margin: Distinct; external filaments absent. Epithecium: Apical cells black (green- or blue-) or olive. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive. Interascal Hyphae: Present, distinctly branched, distinctly anastomosed. Hypothecium: Brown or white.

Asci: Tholus thickened, amyloid; dehiscence lecanoralean.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid or ellipsoid, 11-20 µm long, 7-11 µm wide, obtuse; septa absent; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial.

Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Bacilliform; aseptate; cell wall hyaline.

Secondary Metabolites: Present.
