Periphyses: Absent or present. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Absent. Hypothecium: Black, red, brownish yellow, or brown.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; dehiscence bitunicate; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 4 to 16-32 per ascus, ellipsoid, broadly ellipsoid, ovoid, oblong, cylindrical, fusiform, filiform, or curved, 7-29 µm long, 1-14 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa absent or present; transversally septate or both transversally and longitudinally, (0)-1-7-transversally septate; wall thin or thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, hyaline to grey or pale brown or dark brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented or ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; hyphomycetous.

Conidia: Globose.
