Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells hyaline, black, olive, brownish yellow, or brown. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: White, brownish yellow, or brown.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; dehiscence unitunicate; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid, narrowly fusiform, or curved, (12)-13-24-(45) µm long, (3)-4-7-(8.5) µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa absent or present (rarely aseptate); transversally septate, 1-3-transversally septate; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present.
