Exciple: Black (excipulum central brighter, with lichen substances) or brown. Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells grey (when apothecia with pruina) or brown. Hymenium: Oil inspersed, iodine reaction: Lugol’s positive, not hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: Black or brown.

Asci: Tholus amyloid; ocular chamber broad; dehiscence lecanoralean.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid or ellipsoid, (12)-14-18-24-(28) µm long, (5)-6-8-11-(14) µm wide, obtuse; septa present; transversally septate, 1-1-2-transversally septate, formed by the proper spore wall; wall thin or thick (wall apically thickened), distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall (wall apically thickened), not thickened at the septum, not constricted where the septum meets the spore wall, dark brown or middle brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Present or absent resp. not observed; pycnidial; immersed to adnate.

Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Bacilliform (4-5,5 µm long); microconidial, not branched; aseptate; cell wall hyaline.

Secondary Metabolites: Present, of the following substance class(es): ß-orcinol depsides, ß-orcinol depsidones, and xanthones.
