Ascocarps: Perithecioid, orbicular, not emerging, becoming adnate to soon sessile. Margin: External filaments absent. Exciple: Black or brown. Periphyses: Present. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Absent. Hypothecium: Black, brownish yellow, or brown.

Asci: Tholus thickened, not amyloid; dehiscence verrucarial; exoascus not amyloid, hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: 16-32 to more than 32 per ascus, globose, ellipsoid, broadly ellipsoid, ovoid, oblong-obtuse, oblong, or cylindrical, 2.5-15.5 µm long, 1.5-7 µm wide, obtuse or aciculate; septa absent or present; transversally septate, 1-3-transversally septate; wall thin or thick, distinctly differentiated into primary and secondary wall, not thickened at the septum, pale brown or dark brown, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented or ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial; immersed.

Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Bacilliform.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
