Thallus: Crustose, placodioid, subfruticose, granular, rimose, or areolate (primarily areolate). Thallus Outline: Soon disappearing. Upper Surface: Black, brown, or olive; special structures absent or present:; not pseudocyphellate; eciliate; without hairs; not isidate; not sorediate; not cephalodiate; not lobulate; without granules or sometimes with granules granules, without thalloconidia thalloconidia. Lower Surface: Attached by the whole lower surface; special structures absent.

Medulla: Iodine reaction in Lugol's solution negative; not different with or without KOH pre-treatment (euamyloid).

Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form or with sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, orbicular, forming all across the thallus surface or directly at the thallus margin, not emerging, becoming adnate or soon sessile. Wall: Not carbonized, not fused. Margin: Indistinct, distinct, or prominent; external filaments absent. Exciple: Brown, white, or brownish yellow (faintly). Periphyses: Absent. Epithecium: Apical cells brownish yellow. Hymenium: Iodine reaction: Lugol’s negative, hemiamyloid. Interascal Hyphae: Present, scarcely branched, not or scarcely anastomosed. Hypothecium: White or brownish yellow (rarely faintly).

Asci: Tholus not thickened, not amyloid; ocular chamber indistinct; dehiscence prototunicate; exoascus not amyloid, not hemiamyloid.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid or ellipsoid, 8-24 µm long, 5-13 µm wide, obtuse; septa absent; wall thin, not thickened at the septum, hyaline, in Lugol's Solution negative, wall not ornamented.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed or present; pycnidial; immersed, formed all accross the thallus surface.

Conidiogeneous Cells: Apical. Conidia: Ellipsoid; microconidial, not branched; aseptate; cell wall hyaline.

Secondary Metabolites: Not detected.
