Thallus: Separate thallus parts thick (podetia-like growing). Upper Surface: Dark brown, intense matt or glossy (shiny); special structures present: (pseudocyphellae in depressions of the thallus).

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, forming independently from the host thallus or mycelium (terminal on podetia-like structures). Margin: Not flexuose (first) or strongly flexuose. Amphithecial Cortex: Present. Episamma: Without episamma.

Ascospores: Broadly ellipsoid or oval, 11.5-15-(18) µm long, 5-6.5 µm wide; septa absent or present (rarely).

Conidiomata: Present (immersed in the pseudocyphellae); adnate.

Pycnidia: Globular or ovoid. Conidia: Filiform or curved; 15-25 µm long, .8 µm wide.
