Ecology: Substrate non-calciferous.

Thallus: Not subdivided parts, rimose or areolate (primarily areolate), bullate; separate thallus parts thin or thick. Thallus Outline: Fimbriate; indistinct; soon disappearing; white. Upper Surface: Verrucose or verruculose, lemon (citrine), pale grey, or grey, matt, smooth; epruinose, pruina abundant; wrinkled; sorediate; soralia.5-1.5-3 mm in diam., white or yellow, isolated, not confluent with other soralia, soredia farinose, 15-25-35-(40) µm in diam..

Upper Cortex: Gelatinized.

Ascocarps: Soon sessile. Margin: Lecanorine, verruculose, smooth, not flexuose, persistent, indistinct to distinct, concolourous with the surrounding thallus; without a thin rim between disk and thalline margin. Disk: Plane, brown, brownish yellow, or grey-brown, pruina scarce. Parathecium (proper excipulum): White, not inspersed with crystals. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; crystals small, not dissolving in 10% KOH; photobiont abundant. Amphithecial Cortex: Present, distinctly developed, eucortical, 20-25-35 µm wide, not basally widened, 20-25-35 µm wide at the base; inspersed with oil droplets. Episamma: Soluble in KOH. Epithecium: Apical cells slightly swollen, hyaline, brownish red, or dark brown, soluble in 10% KOH. Hymenium: Not inspers. Hypothecium: White; not inspers.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, ellipsoid or broadly ellipsoid, 10.5-13.5-15-(15.5) µm long, (6.5)-7-9.5-11 µm wide; wall thin, not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Atranorin, nephrosteranic acid, norstictic acid, and roccellic acid, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides, (higher) aliphatic acids, orcinol depsidones, and (tri-)terpenoids.
