Ecology: Substrate non-calciferous.

Thallus: Not subdivided parts, rimose; separate thallus parts thin. Thallus Outline: Indistinct; black. Upper Surface: Lemon (citrine) or lime green, matt, smooth; epruinose; not sorediate.

Ascocarps: Soon sessile. Margin: Lecanorine, verruculose, smooth, not flexuose, persistent, indistinct to prominent, concolourous with the surrounding thallus or brighter than the surrounding thallus; without a thin rim between disk and thalline margin. Disk: Plane, dark brown, epruinose. Parathecium (proper excipulum): White, dissolving in 10% KOH. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; crystals dissolving in 10% KOH; photobiont abundant. Amphithecial Cortex: Present, indistinct, eucortical, (9)-10-12.5-15-(16) µm wide, not basally widened, (9)-10-12.5-15 µm wide at the base; inspersed with oil droplets. Episamma: Without episamma. Epithecium: Apical cells not swollen or slightly swollen, olive or dark green, cell pigment reacting with 10% KOH. Hymenium: Not inspers. Hypothecium: Brownish yellow or orange; not inspers.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid, (7)-7.5-9-11 µm long, 5.5-6.5-8 µm wide; wall thin, not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Arthothelin (2,4,5-trichloronorlichexanthone) and atranorin, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides and xanthones.

Spot Tests: Upper surface: C + orange, PD –.
