Ecology: Corticolous.

Thallus: Not subdivided parts, areolate (primarily areolate); separate thallus parts thin or thick. Thallus Outline: Indistinct; soon disappearing. Upper Surface: Verruculose, lemon (citrine) or pale grey, matt, smooth or rough; epruinose; sorediate; soralia.3-.6-1 mm in diam., white, yellow, or lime green, isolated, not confluent with other soralia or confluent, but not fusing, soredia coarse, 40-50-60 µm in diam..

Ascocarps: Soon sessile, not constricted at the base. Margin: Lecanorine, smooth, not flexuose or slightly flexuose, persistent, indistinct to distinct, concolourous with the surrounding thallus; without a thin rim between disk and thalline margin; sorediate. Disk: Plane, brownish red, epruinose. Parathecium (proper excipulum): White, not inspersed with crystals. Amphithecium (thalline excipulum): Present; crystals small, abundant, dissolving in 10% KOH; photobiont abundant. Amphithecial Cortex: Present, indistinct, eucortical, 20-22.5-25 µm wide, basally widened, 30-60-85-(90) µm wide at the base; inspersed with oil droplets. Episamma: Without episamma. Epithecium: Apical cells slightly swollen, brownish red, insoluble in 10% KOH. Hymenium: Not inspers or oil inspersed. Hypothecium: White; not inspers.

Ascospores: c. 8 per ascus, broadly ellipsoid, 10-12-14.5-(15) µm long, 6-8-9.5-(10) µm wide; wall thin, not ornamented.

Secondary Metabolites: Atranorin, of the following substance class(es): orcinol depsides and (higher) aliphatic acids.
