Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; corticolous.

Thallus: Indistinct or crustose, not subdivided parts, areolate (primarily areolate); separate thallus parts thin. Thallus Size and Differentiation: Up to 10 cm long. Thallus Outline: Irregular; indistinct or distinct. Upper Surface: Pale grey (in non-sorediate parts); special structures present:; sorediate; soralia isolated, not confluent with other soralia or confluent, but not fusing, soredia 20-30 µm in diam..

Reproduction Strategy: With sexual (and possible asexual) stages. Ascocarps: Apothecioid, forming independently from the host thallus or mycelium, soon sessile, sparse (in 13 % of the specimens) or moderately abundant, up to.8 mm in diam.. Margin: Lecideine/biatorine, excluded. Disk: Weakly convex, black. Exciple: Not carbonized.

Conidiomata: Present (found in one fertile specimen); adnate (in esorediate thallus portions).

Pycnidia: Wall black. Conidia: Filiform or curved (often U-shaped); 25 µm long.

Secondary Metabolites: 6-O-methylarthothelin (= 2,4,5-Trichloro-6-O-methylnorlichexanthone) and arthothelin (2,4,5-trichloronorlichexanthone).
