Biogeography: Continent: Africa, Asia-Temperate, Australasia, Europe, Northern America, and Southern America.

Upper Surface: Pale grey or lemon (citrine); special structures absent or present:; not sorediate or sorediate.

Ascocarps: Not constricted at the base, (.6)-1.5-2.8-(4) mm in diam.. Margin: Distinct to prominent. Disk: Plane to weakly convex; black, dark brown, or brown; epruinose, pruina abundant. Exciple: Dark brown, brown, or yellow; inspersed with crystals. Epithecium: Apical cells dark brown, brown, or olive. Hymenium: 130-185-(250) µm high.

Ascospores: 1–2 per ascus, 70-140 µm long, 25-35 µm wide; transversally septate; (3)-7-9-(11)-transversally septate.

Secondary Metabolites: Hopane-6a,22-diol, pannarin, and usnic acid; provisional name(s): 'Megalospora unknown A'(or absent), 'Megalospora unknown B'(or absent), and 'Megalospora unknown C'(or absent).
