Ecology: Biotroph; lichenized; saxicolous.

Thallus: Foliose, subdivided into main parts, irregular, lobed; lobes imbricate (or not); branches applanate (moderately flattened); separate thallus parts 8.5-1.5-(2) mm wide. Thallus Size and Differentiation: 3-5 cm in diameter. Upper Surface: Lime green (darkening to darkish olive-green), matt (mostly dull, shiny near apices) or glossy (shiny); immaculate; isidiate; isidia globular (globose or short cylindrical), not ramified or ramified (expanding laterally and becoming sparingly branched); not sorediate. Lower Surface: Present, brown (pale tan to light brown, shiny); attached by holdfasts (tightly adnate); rhizinate; rhizines moderately abundant, brown (concolorous with lower surface), not branched.

Medulla: White.

Reproduction Strategy: Only known as sterile, asexually reproducing form.

Conidiomata: Absent resp. not observed.

Secondary Metabolites: Present; throughout the thallus medulla, 4-O-demethylbarbatic acid (and 3-?-hydroxybarbatic acid), barbatic acid, and usnic acid.

Spot Tests: Cortex: KC – medulla: K –, C –, PD + deep yellow (yellow-orange).

UV-Fluorescence: Upper thallus surface – (negative).
